Travel to Sydney

After I said goodbye to my friends and family, I checked my baggage in at customs. However, since I was wearing the necklace which my work friend gave me, I was stopped at the metal detector. I haven't had a lot of experiences like that, I was quite nervous and uneasy. After a while, they realised that  I wasn't a threat, so  I was relieved at that time. While I was waiting for boarding to start, I enjoyed looking for a souvenir for my host mother. Although there were plenty of Japanese souvenirs, I didn't buy anything because of their price. They were more expensive than usual. As it was time to start boarding, I made up my mind to leave from Japan. Even though I already yearned for my family, It was my intention to independent from them. I walked  into the air plane , I turned off my phone finally after sending my last message. I was ready to go to Sydney at the moment! I was excited and psyched.

Well done Mayuko. You write with a lot of detail and feelings, so it feels like I am there too.

some expressions that you use "As it was high time to..." "regarded me as innocent" are a little formal, but I understand what you are trying to say.
